Assessing Your Growth Mindset

Am I achieving a growth mindset?  I believe that in certain aspects I am achieving a growth mindset but on other aspects, I am not, for example, I am achieving a growth mindset in math but in other subjects such as social studies or Ela I might not be achieving a growth mindset and I am more leaning towards a fixed mindset. 2-3 possible majors in college. ~bussiness ~econmics ~political science 2-3 colleges I am interested in. I believe that I will start looking into colleges in my sophomore year in high school because I am still in middle school and in my opinion, it is too early to start worrying about colleges. Therefore I do not have any colleges in mind at the moment. Goals I would like to achieve. ~To not fail in any classes ~challenge myself in other subjects

Twain part 2

How does Twain develop the character of Simon Wheeler?  He starts developing the character Simon Wheeler by describing him and going into depth on who he is before actually saying who he is. For example, "In compliance with the request of a friend of mine, who wrote me from the East, I called on good-natured, garrulous old Simon Wheeler"  Describe the effect of word choice on the story.  The effect of his choice makes the story seem more mature in a way containing more of an adult point of view and examples from the story would be " Dilapidated tavern in the ancient mining camp of Angel's, and I noticed that he was fat and bald-headed "  Compare and contrast the narrator with the other characters in the story. The Narrator is more informative and seems to know everyone and everything he would just be your usual character who informs others while the actual characters in the story are more honest and with the narrator providing a good deal of in...

Twain's Humor

1) What is the essential idea of prefatory? The idea of prefatory is more of an explanation in my point of view because the story mail starts off with, what and this is. Meaning prefatory is an introduction to something such as a book. 2) Find one example of a humorous word choice and explain what makes it humorous in Chapter 42. An example of a humorous word choice in the story would be " I had been a bookseller's clerk for a while, but the customers bothered me so much I could not read with any comfort. " 3) Explain how the sentence structure of the two readings contributes to a humorous tone. The two-sentence structures of the two readings contribute to a humorous tone it more transfers a normal situation into something to laugh about like chapter 42 while in my mindset prefatory doesn't include a humorous tone it is more of an informative short-story. 4) Explain how Twain's use of figurative language/literary devices creates humor in Chapter 42...

How To Build A Joke

Do you think Demetri Martin describes humor as an intentional act with a purpose?   I believe that Demetri does describe humor intentionally but with a purpose because of the way he  starts off with a topic and grows more in-depth with it for example, he started off with " My plants often die" but later on Demetri, later on, grew in the topic and started talking about " I bought a cactus and a week later it died." and responded in-joke saying " I am less nurturing than a desert". Have you been aware of this notion before? I am not very familiar with this act because I don't really look into jokes while sometimes I just don' get it, but since I have now looked into this joke I have noticed it in this story. In what way is Abbott's and Costello's "Whos on first" an intentional act with a purpose"? Their comedy " Who's on first" is intentional because they're comedians its there job but their purp...
