Twain's Humor

1) What is the essential idea of prefatory?

The idea of prefatory is more of an explanation in my point of view because the story mail starts off with, what and this is. Meaning prefatory is an introduction to something such as a book.

2) Find one example of a humorous word choice and explain what makes it humorous in Chapter 42.

An example of a humorous word choice in the story would be " I had been a bookseller's clerk for a while, but the customers bothered me so much I could not read with any comfort. "

3) Explain how the sentence structure of the two readings contributes to a humorous tone.

The two-sentence structures of the two readings contribute to a humorous tone it more transfers a normal situation into something to laugh about like chapter 42 while in my mindset prefatory doesn't include a humorous tone it is more of an informative short-story.

4) Explain how Twain's use of figurative language/literary devices creates humor in Chapter 42.

Twain uses a normal situation and transfers it into a humorous way that is somewhat relatable so all readers can take a laugh at.
