How To Build A Joke
Do you think Demetri Martin describes humor as an intentional act with a purpose?
I believe that Demetri does describe humor intentionally but with a purpose because of the way he starts off with a topic and grows more in-depth with it for example, he started off with " My plants often die" but later on Demetri, later on, grew in the topic and started talking about " I bought a cactus and a week later it died." and responded in-joke saying " I am less nurturing than a desert".
Have you been aware of this notion before?
I am not very familiar with this act because I don't really look into jokes while sometimes I just don' get it, but since I have now looked into this joke I have noticed it in this story.
In what way is Abbott's and Costello's "Whos on first" an intentional act with a purpose"?
Their comedy " Who's on first" is intentional because they're comedians its there job but their purpose is to make the crowd laugh and entertain them?
Are there other components of comedy mentioned by Martin that are present in "Who's on First?"
I don't believe that any components are mentioned by Martin in " Who's on First"
