Humorous Monologues In "The Waltz"

1) How does the structure of alternating monologues develop humor in the text?

Monologues would be considered long tedious speeches given by one but paired with alternative monologues could be paired with a humorous tone, An example would be "The Waltz" where the main character is complaining about dancing with the man, inside her thoughts. This showcases a long speech ( monologue )with a humorous tone of her complaints along the way.

2) What truths about social relationships does Parker illuminate through the use of interior and exterior monologues in “The Waltz”?

The social relationship Dorothy Parker displays is a mixed emotion because her interior monologue       ( her thoughts ) are shown as negative to her dancing partner where it seems she isn't enjoying it but based on her attitude toward her partner she seems to enjoy it, only too please her partner and not make him unhappy. This also showcases emotions one would go through when in a real-life situation trying to be polite and not rude to others on the first impression of someone.
